BIO
Intermedia artist, performer, narrator, wanderer, nomad, visionary. S_he graduated film studies at the Jagiellonian University (2016; thesis The (un)ceasing histories. About the word, which enacts a work of art, about the word, which becomes a work of art, under the supervision of Prof. Andrzej Pitrus, PhD.) and the art of intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (2021; Master's diploma project entitled Novacene and a text entitled Solilokwium, 2021, created at the Master Studio of Conceptual Art under the supervision of Prof. Artur Tajber, PhD.). S_he underwent two scholarships abroad at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin (UdK, performance and new media) and the University of Fine Arts in Belgrade (FPU, book design). S_he is an author of video works, performances, site-specific installations, conceptual choreographies, poetic and critical texts, actions in the public and social space. In her art projects, s_he also uses new technologies (XR, AI, GPS). S_he has been showing her work and performances during numerous exhibitions, residencies, laboratories and performance art festivals in Europe, including Austria, Germany, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary, Portugal (a. o. Triennial of New Media Art in Belgrade 2019, IX Young Triennial in Orońsko 2020, Parque del Sol in St. Pölten, Transart Communication Budapest — Bratislava 2018). S_he received an artistic scholarship from the Federal State of Lower Austria (performative arts, 2020, and an Artistic Scholarship of the President of the City of Cracow (intermedia art, 2021).
S_he is also involved in popularization and didactic activities in the field of: experimental film (an authorial series of shows of French avant-garde cinematography from the 1920s CINEMA AND WINE); performance art and extended choreography (lectures, courses and workshops "ALEATORIC TRANS / ACTIONS. Different ways of traversing spaces” and “NOT ISLAND NOT or undersleeping"), as well as journalism and coaching (IKIGAI sessions). S_he is the co-author of the book of 1000 films that make up cinema history, awarded by the Polish Film Institute, edited by Piotr Kletowski. S_he mentally lives by the ocean, in the Portuguese town of Vila Nova de Gaia, with which the relationship is not indifferent to her (new) identity NOVA YÕU 優. In 2018, s_he officially changed her family surname to the name of Nova, starting the "Nova family", a new line, and creating the character and the alter ego of NOVA 0.0.0.0. (self-created identity), inaugurating, in this gesture, her broadly shown project of Novacene.
PORTFOLIO 2016-2020
STATEMENT
I am fascinated by the causative power of language in the context of interspecific communication and ways of building relationships by people, but also the status quo of
artwork and the process of constructing collective, eco-posthumanist identities (archipelagos). Broadly understood issues of identity — identity (or liquid identity) as an art medium, a construct, or a product in liquid modernity — have become the starting point for my current artistic and art-based-research projects, the subject of which, however, is extended to include topics related to the moving-body (for all the phenomena of walking, movement, choreography, social choreography), impressing a trace and the art of living (ökologische Lebenskunst) in an era of novacene. I explore these topics within a framework of the current archive project which I call a LIME TREE. Different ways of traversing spaces, which is overwriting previous works/identities I have created, the NOVA 0.0.0.0. (self-created identity), as if SUPERNOVA 2.0 — ecological collective identity. The above works are often social, formal and cognitive experiments.
I am acting within areas of art such as — performance, video, site-specific installation, seanse, storytelling (narrations), experience, action in the public and social space, choreography — working with thought, word, gesture, body and object. The activities that inspire me the most are communing, conversation, interpersonal stimulation. I like to work inspired by specific places and circumstances. I only create works and/or situations, when their implementation feels necessary to me. The issue of ecology of work and content production is fundamental for me.
